Description

Atlantic Sea Nettle Haliaeetus leucocephalus

The was a jellyfish at the Charleston Aquarium in South Carolina. They had two very nice viewing ports of jellyfish tanks that contained Sea Nettles and Moon jellies. I wasn't thinking and didn't take a photo of the plaque(And the website doesn't even list Sea Nettles) so I'm not 100% sure of species, but this seems much more in line with the Atlantic Sea Nettle than the Pacific Sea Nettle.

The Atlantic Sea Nettle is very similar to the Pacific variety, though it's members tend to be smaller and less vibrantly colored. The Atlantic Sea Nettle has a comparatively powerful sting, though it is not deadly to humans(Barring an allergic reaction). They will prey upon almost anything their tentacles can catch, which includes worms, fish eggs, zooplankton and even crustaceans or other jellies.
